Sharing the Gift of Sight - Preschool Vision Screenings
Opportunity Description
The UCLA Stein Eye Institute - Center for Community Outreach and Policy Preschool Vision Screening is recruiting volunteers for the Fall 2022 calendar. Volunteers will perform the vision screening at local sites to identify preschoolers who may have refractive errors or eye muscle disorders. Early detection of these treatable conditions can avoid countless school-age problems—screenings last approximately two-four hours on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday morning. No experience is required—informal training available at the school site or new volunteer partners with trained volunteers. Desired candidates must enjoy working with children ages 3 to 4—the minimum requirement is four vision screenings per season. The season will begin the last week of August to December. Volunteers provide their transportation or carpool is available upon request from UCLA Stein Eye Institute.
