Volunteers will be helping the students of John R. Wooden High School as they make pancakes, bacon, and other treats for the community. In addition, volunteers will be running several stations aimed at entertaining the community children that attend the event such as face painting. This project is aiming for a one-to-one volunteer-student ratio, such that our volunteers can be paired with one high school student for the day in hopes that this relationship can continue beyond the scope of this volunteer day. A mentor is just what some of these students need for some extra advice and inspiration!
The Annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser is a project to raise money for the JRWHS farm. Here the community bonds together over a school farm, where students of the high school feed, clean, and maintain all the animals without any government funding. This farm is aimed at teaching students who attend JRWHS to care for these animals and provide an escape from their daily routines. Volunteers meet students of all backgrounds and walks of life and are exposed to side of Los Angeles they may never be able to see otherwise.
