Brockton Avenue Elementary School works with the community to provide students the opportunity to develop their potential, and attain skills in a creative environment that enables them to become effective contributing members of a diverse society. Brockton students share opportunities to develop their abilities, individual judgment, and sense of moral and social responsibility. The school focuses on embodying the spirit of understanding, tolerance, and friendship. Brockton is also a TIE-INS UCLA school.
UCLA volunteers will visit Brockton to teach five condensed classes using the Junior Achievement curriculum on financial responsibility and money management. Volunteers will work in the third, fourth, fifth, and special education classes to teach “Equipping” to instruct students of the next generation regarding financial responsibility and money management, “Impacting” to instill values and principles in students of the next generation which will be fundamentally necessary in their future educational and vocational pursuits, and “Relationship-building” to maintain and further strengthen the relationship between UCLA and this local school.
