Baldwin Hills Elementary School for Advanced Studies and Gifted Students is a magnet school for young children in the Los Angeles area. The school has consistently sought to provide a high quality education for students in grades K-5, building a foundation for their future education. The UCLA Volunteer Center has maintained a strong relationship with the school since last Volunteer Day, during which UCLA students demonstrated the power of teamwork by repainting the school, as well as designing murals for specific buildings.
The goal of this project will be to repaint specific buildings on the school campus that volunteers on Volunteer Day were unable to complete. The project will help maintain a strong partnership between UCLA and the Baldwin Hills Elementary School beyond Volunteer Day, but the project will ultimately benefit the students of the school by improving the aesthetics of their learning environment.
