The UCLA Volunteer Center is excited to announce an updated Mongelli Award website. The streamlined redesign now features a curated gallery of previous Mongelli Award for Excellence in Civic Engagement recipients. Each quarter, the UCLA Volunteer Center Fellows select student-led organizations that exemplify the True Bruin Value of service. In addition to a monetary prize, award winners also receive the opportunity to raise awareness of their organizations by being featured on the Volunteer Center’s website and social media.
The Mongelli Award website serves as a permanent digital archive, which showcases some of the best of student service organizations in civic engagement. Fittingly, the narrative it weaves is an inspirational tale of Bruins committed to making a difference, in ways large and small.
The webpage was crafted by the UCLA Volunteer Center’s student programmer Sami Yerunkar. His design philosophy elevates performance and functionality, while infusing the digital space with the same optimism that is characteristic in the organizations being featured. An oversized grid layout, ample whitespace, and a toggle that reveals a trove of hidden thumbnails are just a few examples of how this page celebrates the vibrancy of the students being honored.
