This is a photo of the non-profit organization, LA Green Grounds.

This gardening project will be hosted by LA Green Grounds and the UCLA student organization, Be Green Bruin.

LA Green Grounds is a grassroots organization of volunteers dedicated to enabling residents of South Los Angeles to create their own edible gardens. While originally focused on converting front lawns and parkways into edible landscapes and urban farms, currently LA Green Grounds is primarily using their South Los Angeles Teaching Garden to educate and share with the community organic gardening practices, ways to prepare food from the garden, and other benefits of gardening and nature.

The mission of Be Green Bruin is to provide college students the opportunity to learn, share, and discuss the food movement, sustainability, environmentalism, and regenerative systems.

For this event, UCLA volunteers will help with various gardening tasks such as: mulching pathways or beds, watering the plants, removing old plants and adding compost to the beds, planting new vegetables or seeds, making support trellises and pruning fennel and lemon verbena.
