Community Tree Planting

This is a photo of volunteers planting trees.

We are partnering with the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council on a community tree-care effort to help maintain and protect more than 100 trees throughout the community. Volunteers will assist with watering the trees and applying mulch around their bases to help retain soil moisture, improve tree health, and support long-term growth.

Volunteers will meet at Howard Finn Park, which will serve as the starting point and staging area for the effort. From there, volunteers will be organized into teams and assigned specific locations and trees to ensure the work is coordinated and that all 100+ trees receive the necessary care. This partnership is a great example of how the City and our community can work together to maintain our trees, strengthen our neighborhoods, and protect our urban canopy.

(Please be aware that the time listed is for the actual service project. If you are taking the bus to the project site, we will ask volunteers to meet at a central location beginning at 7am for breakfast and to account for travel time to the project site.)
