Carthay Environmental Studies Stem Magnet Elementary

This is a logo for Carthay Elementary School.

Their Mission: Carthay School of Environmental Studies Magnet is the only ETK-5th grade magnet elementary school in the LAUSD that combines the sciences and the humanities in an educational program centered on society and the environment. Environmental Studies is a broad, comprehensive field of study that engages students in real life explorations and gives them the skills and abilities they need to be active participants in improving quality of life for themselves and future generations.

Help us grow, build, and refresh the Carthay School Garden! UCLA volunteers will work alongside our families on hands-on projects to prepare and improve our outdoor learning spaces. Projects may include building new raised garden beds and a duck coop, as well as planting, mulching, pruning, refreshing our orchard and native garden areas, and caring for our chickens and other garden spaces.

Time: 9am - 12pm

(Please be aware that the time listed is for the actual service project. If you are taking the bus to the project site, we will ask volunteers to meet at a central location beginning at 7am for breakfast and to account for travel time to the project site.)
