Volunteer Experience: One Bus, One Cause: Veterans Day

Posted on November 29th, 2012

On Monday, November 12, 2012, a bus full of Bruins volunteered their time at the Veterans Home of West Los Angeles. The volunteers were able to hear speeches from volunteer speakers, as well as Executive Director of Volunteer Los Angeles Nancy Olson and UCLA alum Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa! Volunteers were broken into several groups to plant trees, mulch and water the gardens, and build above-ground planter boxes for disabled veterans to use from their wheelchairs. Some volunteers were even able to speak to veterans who showed their appreciation for the time spent on this day, affirming that their service was worthwhile. This was a great way for Bruins to get involved and give back to both the community and to veterans!

Below are some pictures from the successful day of service, as well as our Mayor reacquainting himself with the eight clap!
