The Muscular Dystrophy Association fights to free individuals — and the families who love them — from the harmful effects of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related life-threatening diseases so they can live longer and grow stronger.
Each Summer, nearly 75 week-long Summer camps are held across the country. The Los Angeles/ Orange County camp is held in Orange, CA at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center, and hosts 120 campers annually. During this week, campers aged 6-17 are enabled to do activities they may have never thought were possible, such as swimming, wheelchair hockey, and ziplining. All activities are completely adaptable to all of our campers.
We are recruiting counselors, age 16+, to be a one-on-one buddy to one of our campers. Counselors assist with different activities throughout the day, as well as keeping the campers comfortable, which may include toileting and bedtime routines.
Counselors receive over 160 volunteer hours that we are happy to sign off on. We can also provide letters of recommendation if desired. This is an amazing opportunity to gain experience and volunteer hours. It will also provide you memories to last you a lifetime!
Volunteer counselors will attend all week from Sunday morning to Saturday afternoon.
