Hello future volunteers! The AB540 Project, community service pillar of IDEAS@UCLA, is once again gearing up for our annual Immigrant Youth Empowerment Conference (IYEC). IYEC, a free, day-long conference scheduled to be held on May 28th, 2016 (Week 9 Saturday), aims to raise awareness about issues that impact the undocumented community in the US, and is the largest conference of its kind in the nation; for the past few years, it has attracted an average of ~1000-1200 attendees every year.
There are several opportunities for being a volunteer. First, one can volunteer to join our work parties held prior to the conference, which will involve preparing folders for participants, preparing color-coded signs and flags to help provide directions to workshops on the day of, We are expecting to hold 1-2 work parties between Weeks 8 and 9. If you indicate interest in volunteering for the work party, we will contact you at a later date with a confirmed time/date/venue.
