The California Coastal Commission’s Public Education Program works to increase public knowledge of coastal and marine resources and to engage the public in coastal protection and restoration activities. We offer a variety of conservation, education, and community engagement programs.
California Coastal Cleanup Day is one of those programs and it happens annually, on the third Saturday in September, this year will mark our 33rd! On September 16, 2017, we expect more than 70,000 volunteers will remove hundreds of thousands of pounds of trash and recyclables from California’s beaches, lakes, and waterways. The event is part of the International Coastal Cleanup, which is the largest volunteer event on the planet!
There is bound to be a program just right for you, so get involved at Coast4u.org and take part in something bigger!
If a volunteer or group of volunteers wants to cleanup on an alternative day from August 15-October 31, that is okay too.
