WISE & Healthy Aging’s Benefits Enrollment Center is the first program in California designed to provide a one-stop shop to help low-income seniors throughout Los Angeles find and apply for public benefits programs to help them pay for prescription drugs, medical care, food and utilities.
A volunteer will work with individuals age 50 and older to provide screening for eligibility, counseling of benefits, assistance collecting and completing application forms, troubleshooting during the application review process, and assistance in recertifying with the program to assure no gap in assistance.
Training in the various processes for key benefit programs (CalFresh, Medi-Cal, Medicare Savings Programs, Extra Help Low Income Subsidy for Medicare Part D, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, utility discount programs and utility user tax exemption programs, where applicable), application forms, and documentation requirements will be provided.
The Benefits Enrollment Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. We ask volunteers to serve a minimum of 4 hours at a time and a six month commitment. We're flexible and always open to working with your schedule.
