The School of History and Dramatic Arts (SoHDA) is an LAUSD Pilot school* in Glassell Park with opportunities for short and long term internships. SoHDA is an all-public school serving students of the surrounding neighborhood with a college-prep academic program blended with a robust drama and stage tech program. Staffed with a dedicated (group of teachers, community volunteers and interns play a key role in helping bridge the equity gap.

The School of History and Dramatic Arts seeks intern(s) to join our Drama and Theater Tech program for the current academic year. The successful candidate(s) will support students in grades 9 to 12 in the performing arts program. He or she will work with the director, David Levine (*) to help oversee all aspects of school productions, partnership projects with CalArts and Mujeres de la Tierra, and a limited number of other selected events such as Coffee House evenings. One intern will focus on directing and another on coaching stage tech students and helping integrate with the production, but each will have an opportunity for experience in both.
Interns should be a self-starters and possess a deep appreciation for the potential of students along with a creative spirit, sense of humor, and passion for collaboration. Exceptional flexibility, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Ability and interest in technical theater is desirable but not required.
It is preferred candidates are in an undergraduate degree program in the performing arts, but candidate from all degree programs will be considered. No previous directing experience necessary; however, it will be helpful to have personal experience in school or other productions.

Flexible hours and commitment. Preference is for after school hours, but some availability to work during clas time.
