Community Service Day

Saturday, November 14th, De Neve Plaza
The UCLA Volunteer Center is proud to support the Community Service Day and encourages the UCLA community to participate. Community Service Day is a campus-wide event during which about 500 UCLA community members (students, staff, faculty and alumni) perform service at various nonprofit organizations in the greater Los Angeles community. This year students can choose from a variety of projects that address the issues of homelessness, convalescence, environment, animals and literacy. The Community Service Commission, which hosts and facilitates CS Day, provides the volunteers with transportation to the sites, as well as breakfast, lunch, and a T-shirt. The day begins with an Opening Ceremony which will feature the Volunteer Center’s Campaign Director, David Bloome. After performing three hours of service, the students come back to campus where they are served lunch and can choose to attend a Service Fair to learn more about Los Angeles sites, on-campus service organizations and other ways to continue volunteering. The goal of this event is to provide Bruins an opportunity to gain awareness of the needs of their surrounding community, as well as to help nurture a continuing interest and dedication to service.
CS Day will take place November 14th. If you would like more information or are interested in signing up please visit www.usaccsc.org and register for the event. For questions relating to CS Day or the UCLA Volunteer Center please email volunteer@ucla.edu.
